Laurel has a BA in Theater and Drama from the University of Wisconsin Madison. She spent several years as the Assistant Technical Director of the Wisconsin Union Theater in Madison Wisconsin and has worked as a stage manager in dance, theater, and opera.
Laurel has worked on productions with the Manhattan School of Music, the Ensemble Studio Theater, the New York Theater Workshop, The Public Theater, and the New York Musical Theater Festival.

Laurel also sings, acts and does her own stunts. She attended the United Stuntmens Association International Stunt School and has studied Shaolin Kempo Karate.
